Fire Blanket

Extinguishing Blanket (Fire Blanket)

You can use a fire blanket to fight small fires. By closing off the oxygen supply from the source of the fire, a fire blanket will extinguish the fire. It is always important to check that you have a good fire blanket that meets the EN1869:1997 quality standard.

You must be able to clearly read the word FIRE BLANKET on the front. According to the law, this must be written in white letters on a red background, with a font larger than 20 mm. Further on the front, you must find the model/type number, along with the instructions and pictograms.

The contact details of the manufacturer, type, model, date of manufacture and the number of the European standard must be found on the fire blanket itself.

On the back, you will find the instructions about the annual maintenance, the dimensions of the blanket, the instructions for folding the blanket and the number of the European standard. It is important to clearly state that fire blankets are suitable for extinguishing small fires, but that these blankets are usually not suitable for fryer fires.

To extinguish fryers, you must use fire blankets that have the BS EN1869 certification.
