Varnish
Wood can be treated with varnishes. The application and the result are the same as with paint. Fire retardant varnishes are technical products and cannot be compared to a standard varnish. Just as with paint, the amount required depends on the type of wood or construction component. A fire class fire class B s2 d0 can also be obtained with varnishes. Various types of wood and structural components were tested by Fire-Proof, with fire-retardant varnishes.
The choice of paint and varnish has an impact on the final fire resistance classification of the wooden construction, depending on the type of wood.

Paint
Just as with fire-resistant paintwork on steel, wood can be treated with paint. The wood gets a better fire resistance classification after the treatment due to the protective fire-retardant paint layer. Normal construction wood can achieve a better fire class with this technique, such as B s2 d0. At Fire-Proof we also have experience with the treatment of other types of wood and structural components (plywood, pine, pine, OSB, etc.) with specific fire-retardant paints.
The type of fire-retardant paint and the quantity required, is determined on the basis of the type of wood or structural component. Fire retardant paint on wood, has a standard white color. A protective final layer can also be chosen in a RAL color of your choice. The paint can be applied with the roller or with an airless sprayer, depending on the circumstances.
