Fire-delaying Autoclave Treatments for Wood

You can go to Fire-Proof bvba for fire-delaying impregnation of wood under vacuum pressure in an autoclave, so that the reaction of the wood to the fire is considerably improved: up to class B-s1, d0 according to European standard EN 13501-1. In addition, the wood can be treated to be water and dirt-repellent, making outdoor applications possible (for example facades).

The manufacturer gives a 10-year guarantee on the flame-delaying properties of treated wood.

Explanation Of Vacuum Pressure Applications

Wood is a widely used material in construction, and rightly so. It is a very versatile product, it insulates extremely well, has special acoustic properties and is a natural, healthy and sustainable material. By impregnating the wood with BURNSTOP under vacuum pressure in an autoclave, Fire-Proof bvba can considerably improve the natural flame-delaying capacity of wood.

Fire-Proof bvba has been a solid value in the field of fire protection for years. Almost all types of wood can be treated to be fire-proof! Both softwoods (western red cedar, spruce, pine, thermowood, pine, etc.) and harder woods (azobe, afzelian afromosia, etc.) achieved B-s1, d0 or B-s2, d0 classification according to European standard EN 13501-1 during official tests at Exova WarringtonFireGent.

This offers architects and designers a large number of possibilities when using wood as a building material. After this treatment, the wood can be used for cladding, indoor terraces, ceilings, panelling, etc.

Pelicoat as a Final Coating layer with 10 years warranty

Pelicoat Pro Wood is a water based, hydro-oleophobic product, with a slight anti-graffiti action. Wood surfaces treated with the Pelicoat Pro Wood, have a better protection against all types of weather conditions, grease and pollution. Pelicoat Pro Wood can be applied after the wood has been treated, in an autoclave or on site with a spray or brush , with the fire retardent Burnstop product for wood.

Wood treated with the Burnstop and the Pelicoat Pro Wood products, have a fire retardant, hydro- and oleophobic effect with a life expectency of minimum 10 years.

Method for fire-delaying autoclave treatments for wood.

The fire-retardant treatment of wood is a technical process that can be divided into five major steps:

Step 1: After an initial inspection of the wood, quality and quantity, we will fix the wood in a solid structure.

Step 2: After the preparation, the wood enters the autoclave for a fire-retardant treatment, with the Burnstop IM-W475 phosphates, for a period of 30 minutes to 3 hours, with a pressure of 2 to 10 bar depending on the type of wood.

Step 3: After autoclaving, we bring the wood into the drying rooms, where the temperature is gradually raised to 56 ° C

Step 4: For outdoor applications, the treated wood receives a water-repellent after-care treatment with the Pelicoat Pro Wood on all four sides of the support.

Step 5: The wood is carefully placed on the racks for drying, before we finally stack it on pallets. The treated wood is ready for departure to the construction site.

All these steps happen on our site where we perform the treatments from the beginning till the end.
