Reference Number: 140-Line
Description: Water thinnable colour stable, two-pack polyurethane.
Intended Use: As an effective TWO COAT anti-graffiti paint system suitable for application to a wide variety of substrates, including brick, concrete, plaster, aluminium, primed steel, glazed tiles, and previously painted surfaces, etc.
Appearance of Dried Film: Full range of colours - gloss or matt finish
Volume Solids: 45-50% dependent upon colour.
Typical Dry Film Thickness: 50 microns
Theoretical Coverage: 9.5m² per litre at 50 microns dry film thickness.
Typical Spreading Rate: Variable according to porosity and texture of substrate together with method of application. Expect 3-5m² /litre and 4-8m²/litre second coat.
Organic Solvent Content: Less than 0.5%.
VOC levels: 12 grams/litre. Easily satisfies the Compliant Coatings Requirement of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Mixing Instructions: Using a power-mixer, stir the base component and, whilst mixing, VERY SLOWLY add the curing agent. Continue to stir the mixture until a creamy texture is achieved. Up to 500 ml of water per 5 litre of product may be added to aid application. DO NOT EXCEED THIS 500 ML FIGURE.
NB: A power-mixer, e.g. electric drill with stirrer attachment, is essential for the correct mixing of 5 and 20 litre packs of Water-Borne Margard.
Method: Apply the first coat by brush or roller ensuring an adequate film over the whole surface, particularly where the substrate is coarse and in the mortar joints in brickwork. When dry the second coat may be applied.
Drying Time at 20°C & 50% RH (relative humidity): Touch Dry: 30 minutes.
Overcoating Instructions: Apply the second coat as soon as the first coat is through dry, usually after 2 hours, to reduce the possibility of intercoat graffiti contamination. Whenever possible both coats should be applied in one day.
Ambient Temperature: Between 5oC and 30oC.
Ambient Humidity: Less than 80% RH.
Shelf Life: 12 months when stored in unopened containers.
Storage: Store under cover within a temperature range of between 5oC and 30oC.
Protect from frost.
Health and Safety: See appropriate CHIP data sheet.
Pot Life: Varies according to temperature. 4 hours at 20oC and 2 hours at 30oC. DO
NOT USE WHEN THE PRODUCT IS TIME EXPIRED.
Containers: DO NOT RESEAL AFTER MIXING AS CONTAINERS ARE LIABLE TO BURST.
Graffiti Resistance: Although the paint film will resist some graffiti attack immediately on drying, full anti-graffiti properties will only be achieve after several days curing of the system.
Drying Properties: It is essential that adequate air movement is provided if the stated drying times are to be achieved. Variations in temperature and humidity will also affect the drying times.
Surface Preparation: Remove all dirt, dust and friable material, and loose flaking paint to ensure that the substrate is sound, clean and dry.
General: Although these products have been tested on a wide variety of substrates and subsequently contaminated with most of the known graffiti agents, no guarantees are given or implied that they will resolve all graffiti problems. In cases of doubt do a trial.
